Verda Roy
Verda Leialoha Roy, 90, of Kahaluu, died Sept. 13, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 26, 2018, in Honolulu, she was a career executive assistant serving at Alexander and Baldwin and Hawaii Visitor’s Bureau; an assistant to curators at Hulihee Palace; an executive assistant for the Kaloko-Honokohau Advisory Commission, Na Kokua Kaloko-Honokohau Helpers of Kaloko-Honokohau, Kulana Huli Honua Foundation of the Search for Wisdom, and co-founder of Halau No’eau Kahelemauna, and a member of the Daughters of Hawaii and Mayflower Society and Alden Kindred of America.
Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona; Mass at 4 p.m. The family requests aloha attire.
She is survived by daughters, Lauren Mikahala Roy of Kahaluu, and Moana (Billy Ochmann) Roy Kuma and Lisa Leialoha Roy-DeAguiar, all of Pahoehoe; sons-in-law, Kenneth Akana and Teiko Kuma, both of Kailua-Kona, and Lowell Ching of Waimea; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lisa Spencer
Lisa Gay “Yosh” Yoshizumi Spencer, 61, of Hilo, died Sept. 30, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 8, 1957, in Hilo, she was a housewife and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Panaewa Chiefs Softball.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 28 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service followed by a celebration of life gathering from 1-6 p.m. at Hawaiian Village in Keaukaha. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by companion, Bryant Spencer of Hilo; sons, Myron Yoshizumi, Bryce (Nani) Spencer of Hilo; daughter, Amber Spencer of Hilo; mother, Sheila Yoshizumi of Hilo; brothers, Richard (Donna) Yoshizumi, Jr. of Waikoloa, Wade (Michie) Yoshizumi of Hilo; sisters, Debbie Yoshizumi of Keaau, Alison Yoshizumi of Hilo; two grandchildren, Spencer and Kalia-Rose; numerous nieces and nephews.

David De Luz Sr.
David S. De Luz Sr., 86, of Hilo, died Oct. 13, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pa’auilo, he was the owner of several local businesses: Big Island Toyota, De Luz Chevrolet, Kukaiau Ranch, Hawaii Beef Producers and the founder of Big Island Motors; and a member of the Hawaii Cattlemen’s Council, Hawaii Farm Bureau, Young Men’s Institute, Hawaii Automobile Dealers Association, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call 8:30-10 a.m. Oct. 29 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass, followed by private burial. Ruby Rios
Ruby C. Rios, 81, of Honokaa, died Sept. 18, 2018, at her daughter’s residence. Born in Honokaa, she was a homemaker and caregiver and a member of the Alpha and Omega Church of God.
Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Oct. 27 at Honokaa United Methodist Church for a service. An urn burial will take place at noon Oct. 29 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire and for flowers only at the cemetery.

Lance Arruda
Lance Arruda, 70, Kurtistown, died Oct. 7, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired mason for Isemoto Contracting Co., a member of the Hawaii Masons and Plasterers Union Local 1 and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Friends may call 6-7 p.m. Oct. 29 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; service at 7. Friends may call again 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; Mass at 10. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.

Hanako Miyahara
Hanako Miyahara, 88, of Waiohinu, died Oct. 9, 2018, at home. She was born in Napoopoo and was a homemaker, member of Naalehu Hongwanji Mission and the Naalehu Hongwanji Kumiai.
Private services held. No flowers, no koden (monetary donations).
She is survived by sons, Paul (Renee) Miyahara of Kurtistown and Jon Miyahara of Honolulu; daughters, Dawn (James) Pitton and Jill Marquez, both of Honolulu, April (Matt) Luera of Volcano and Joy (Rory) Murata of Mountain View; four grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Yoshino Nagasako
Yoshino Nagasako, 94, of Ookala, died Sept. 11, 2018, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired housekeeper at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, a retired employee of Honokaa High School, member of the Honokaa Senior Citizens and Honokaa Nutrition Club.
Private services were held.
She is survived by sons, Raymond Zukeran of Hilo, and Byron (Jodie) Nagasako of Honolulu; daughter, Leinaala (Alan) Ikeuchi of Honokaa; son-in-law, Don Elvena of Honolulu; daughter-in-law, Masae Zukeran of Hilo; sister, Shirley Nishimoto of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Chieko Sakuda of California, Fumie Matsumoto of California, Elaine Nagasako of Hilo; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
